Joseph "Joe" Modic
Jan 12, 1972 - Nov 17, 2024
Willard
Joseph "Joe" Modic, 52, of Willard, passed away peacefully Sunday, Nov. 17, 2024. He was born Jan. 12, 1972, in California. Joe was the beloved eldest son of Jerry and Verna (Navarette) Modic.
Joe was a man who lived with passion and heart. He found joy in the simple things, whether riding his motorcycle, fishing or sharing precious moments playing video games with his grandson, Rhydian ("Red"). Joe had a knack for making people laugh, often through his playful habit of rewriting the lyrics to Christmas songs-or any song, really-to bring a smile to someone's face. Even in difficult times, his humor lifted spirits and reminded everyone that things would be okay.
For nearly 27 years, Joe was a dedicated employee of IAC, formerly known as Lear and O'Sullivan's. He formed lasting friendships with colleagues who, like his family, cherished his big heart and infectious personality.
In his free time, Joe enjoyed playing card games and teaching others how to master them. He was a member of Huron Eagles in Huron, and wherever he went, Joe had a way of making people feel comfortable, relaxed, and ready to have fun. His presence brought people together, and his kindness and humor left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. Joe was a man with a huge heart who gave selflessly, even when he had little to offer. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and everyone who was fortunate enough to know him.
Joe's deep love for his family was evident in every aspect of his life. He shared a special bond with his wife, Stephanie Bollinger, whom he affectionately described as his partner in everything. Together, they faced life hand-in-hand, always "us against everything." His mother, Verna, held a particularly special place in his heart and Joe never missed an opportunity to surprise her with Baby Yoda-themed gifts. He adored his stepchildren, Brenna Bollinger, Galen Klakamp and Gabrielle Klakamp, and took immense pride in his stepgrandchildren, Rhydian ("Red"), River and Ronan. Joe and Red, in particular, shared a remarkable bond that began the day Red came into his life; they were inseparable, partners in mischief and joy. Joe also cherished his siblings, Jerry Modic of Norwalk and Jason Modic of Sandusky. Despite their goofy relationship, he loved them unconditionally. His nephew, Jose Modic, and niece, Hannah Gehring, also held a special place in his heart.
He is preceded in death by his father, Jerry Modic.
