I enjoyed when "Uncle Joe" lived in the house right behind my family's home in Castalia. He allowed my brothers and me to use his back yard as a baseball "stadium" where we made many sandlot type childhood memories. Also, I enjoyed watching him plant, tend, and harvest his large garden in the same backyard where our foul balls often landed. I respected him because he always led an active life-style trying to be his best self. He biked, played guitar, and shared his delicious fresh vegetables. He was always vibrant, loving, and kind. He will always have a special place in my heart.
