John Samuel Tice

John Samuel Tice, 84, of Milan, passed away Friday, Sept. 13, 2024, at New Life Hospice in Lorain after a lengthy illness.

Born Feb. 28, 1940, in New Haven, Connecticut, John was the son of John Alexander Tice and Jeanette (Johnston) Tice. A proud U.S. Army Veteran, he served with distinction in the 82nd Airborne Division. John dedicated 20 years to UPS and also owned and operated JT's Liquor Locker in Amsterdam, New York.

An avid car enthusiast, John was also an accomplished handball player, having competed at World Championship level. He had a deep passion for sports, particularly Alabama football, New York Yankees, and enjoyed betting on horse racing.

John is survived by his son, John Robert (Candi) Tice of Milan; four grandchildren, Haley, Brandon (Hailey), Gabriel (Malia), and Brock Tice; two sisters, Jaydene Albert and Joy (Bob) Paradis; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his stepmother, Alice Tice.

Private family services will be at Bay Pines Veterans Cemetery in St. Petersburg, Florida. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory in Sandusky is assisting the family with arrangements.
