Jennifer "Jenny" Rowles
Jun 26, 1962 - Jan 6, 2024
Huron
Jennifer "Jenny" (McKenna) Rowles, 61, lost a courageous 42-year battle to Multiple Sclerosis on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024, at her residence, The Meadows at Osborn Park, Huron.
She was born June 26, 1962, in Sandusky, to Francis H. and Janis E. (Cook) McKenna, the youngest of eight children. Jenny was a graduate of St. Mary Central Catholic High School. Due to the MS diagnosis at age 19, her studies were cut short at Providence Hospital School of Nursing. Her creative talent and passion for flower arranging served Russell's Flower Shop for years after her diagnosis.
Jenny was a true warrior and inspiration as she navigated MS over four decades. Her loving spirit, positive strength, and compassion will be profoundly missed, but lives on in the hearts of those she touched, especially her faithful high school friends from SMCC Class of 1980.
Over the years, Jenny was a beloved and treasured resident at Springcreek Care Campus (Green Springs), Riverview Healthcare (Oak Harbor), and Meadows at Osborn Park (Huron). Deepest appreciation to the dedicated healthcare teams and spiritual advisors who provided her loving care and friendship, including Firelands Infusion Center.
Jenny adored participating in activities as a champion bingo player, NuStep training, chair yoga, wheelchair races, live music performances, happy hour, cooking classes, field trips, sporting events, Sunday services, and arts/crafts. Her artwork was proudly displayed as she spent endless hours coloring for the season. She was so honored to serve in the Grand Parade as Oak Harbor Apple Festival Royalty in 2018 and 2019.
Jenny was preceded in death by her husband of 18 years, James A. "Jim" Rowles (2015). Jenny and Jim met in an MS support group and married Sept. 6, 1996. Together, they coped with the challenges of MS, always with a laugh and smile. She was also preceded in death by her dedicated parents, Francis H. and Janis E. McKenna (2020 and 2021); and beloved sister, Sharon McKenna Austin (2017) of
Niles, Michigan.
At Jenny's request, there was no visitation and cremation has taken place. Her memorial is next to her husband at Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky. Those who wish to honor her may participate in the upcoming Walk MS: Toledo event on Sunday, May 19, 2024.
Memorial contributions can be made to Walk MS: in Loving Memory of Jenny Rowles.
Arrangements have been entrusted to David F. Koch Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.
