James N. "Jim" Smith, 76, of Greenwich, passed Friday, May 19, 2023, at Stein Hospice, Sandusky.

He was born Feb. 14, 1947, in Willard, to Isabell (Kramb) and Claude Smith. Jim was a 1965 graduate of South Central High School and was employed at Fishbaugh Construction. He then became a state highway patrolman and lastly retired from Bosch Braking Systems, Ashland. He served several years on Greenwich Fire Dept. Jim enjoyed fishing and wood working, but spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, he cherished the most.

Jim is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rebecca "Becky" (Gilger) Smith of Greenwich; four children, Shawn (Cindy) Smith of Norwalk, Thad Smith of Ashland, and Leigha (Tim) McCormack and Laura (Chris) Keysor, both of Greenwich; 12 grandchildren, Heath, Chase, Bree, Sam, Chanler, Marcus, Jackson, Whitney, Max, Owen, Olivia, and Emma; two stepgrandchildren, Madyson and Kennedy; four great-grandchildren, Bryden, Layne, Madi, and Norah; three siblings, Cindy Fishbaugh of Sun City, Arkansas, Bob Smith of Mansfield, and Claudia Jo (Clyde) Honeycutt of North Fairfield; and brother-in-law, Dr. Larry Gilger of Norwalk.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Tom Beasore; brother, Todd Smith; and sister-in-law, Linda Smith.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 22, 2023, and 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 23, 2023, until the time of Jim's service at 11 a.m. at Eastman Funeral Home, 49 W. Main Street, Greenwich, Ohio, 44837, with Pastor Doug Lang officiating. Burial will be at Greenwich Greenlawn Cemetery.
