Jack E. Carney Sr., 80, of Willard, passed away Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024.
He was born Jan. 1, 1944, in Willard, to Joseph and Mary (Androsac) Carney. Jack worked at Midwest Industries as a spray painter, Ford in Avon Lake, and Durable Corp. in Norwalk until he retired. He enjoyed rooting for Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns, and Ohio State Buckeyes. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and watching and supporting them in all their sports events.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty (Remmy) Carney, whom he married Sept. 28, 1963; children, Stephanie (Ronald) Knight II of Shelby, Jack (Kelly) Carney of Attica, Jonathan Carney of Willard, and Jason Carney of Greenwich; grandchildren, Derek Knight and Katelyn (Michael) Garza of Shelby, Kyle (Taylor) Carney of Tiffin, Jacob (Nicole) Carney of Greenwich, Madison Carney of Greenwich, and Ashton Carney of Greenwich; great-grandchildren, Tegan Carney of Tiffin, Bentlee Garza of Shelby, Jensen Carney of Greenwich, and two on the way; sister, Diane (Frank) Anderson; brother, Joe (Alma) Carney; and many nieces and nephews.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Suzanne (Bill) Krabill, Carolyn (Joel) Van Loo, and Geraldine (Paul) Weiss; mother and father-in-law, Robert and Helen Remmy; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth (Thomas) Baker and Robert (Janice) Remmy; nieces, Kimberly Long, Cheryl Krabill, and Samantha Rowe; and nephews, David Baker and Clark Anderson.
His family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Vigesaa, Julie Secor, Willard Fire and Rescue, Mercy Hospital Staff, Pathways Hospice Staff, and Sharon Lee.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2024, at Secor Funeral Home, Willard. Jack's service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2024, at the funeral home with Pastor Ben Patrick officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, New Haven.
