Ira Junior DeLapp, 90, of Norwalk died Thursday, December 29, 2022, at Gaymont Care Center. He was born in Hartland Township December 30, 1931, the son of Ira and Alta (Ridenour) DeLapp Sr. He was a 1952 graduate of New London High School.

Ira is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Reep) DeLapp. They married March 2, 1973, and shared 49 years of marriage together. They lived in Clarksfield Township for 40 years before moving to Norwalk.

He is also survived by his three nephews, Patrick DeLapp of Colorado & Michael DeLapp of Kanas, which he enjoyed talking to every week, and Craig DeLapp of Huron. He was previously married and had five children.

Ira really loved all his wife's nieces and nephews and treated them like his own. He had lots of good times partying with them.

Ira stared his own upholstery shop, which he operated for five years, before beginning his 35 year career with Norwalk Furniture, he retired in 1988.

While living in the country, Ira enjoyed gardening, tending to his flowers, woodworking, painting, & helping his wife host their large Christmas parties. He also enjoyed fishing in the pond in his front yard. While living in town, he enjoyed yardwork and raised the best-looking roses and lilies around.

In earlier years, Ira was a little league coach and a Cub Scout leader. He loved to play golf and was a member of the Norwalk Furniture League. He enjoyed going out fishing with his brother Harry on Lake Erie. Ira was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns, Cavaliers, and Indians.

Ira was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Morry and Harry DeLapp.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 7, 2023, 10:30 a.m. until the time of the 12 p.m. funeral at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main Street, New London, OH 44851. Burial will follow in Clarksfield Methodist Cemetery, Zenobia Road, Wakeman.
