Howard Wallace Obituary

Howard James Wallace

Jul 28, 1948 - Dec 24, 2025

Sandusky

Howard James Wallace, 77, of Sandusky and formerly of Bellevue, took the last train to his heavenly depot Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.

Howard was born July 28, 1948, in Bellevue, to the late James and Lucille (Kramer) Wallace. He graduated from Bellevue High School in 1966. Howard then started working for Nickel Plate/Norfolk Western/Norfolk Southern Railroad. He worked there for 42 years, minus a three-year stint in the United States Army Signal Corps during the Vietnam War. For ten years after retirement, he drove his fifth wheel back and forth to Florida. He then bought a home to winter at Golf Lakes in Bradenton, Florida.

He was a member of Bellevue Eagles most of his life. Howard also volunteered at the Marblehead Lighthouse for 20 years, giving tours and working as a gardener. Many of the flowers there were planted by him. He spent his summers for forty-plus years at Bay Point Campground in Marblehead. He loved to jet ski. Howard was a gentleman who was always willing to help anyone with anything. As his friends and family can attest, he was quick-witted with a sarcastic twist. You never knew if what he was saying was the truth or a joke.

Howard leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Mary H. (McNally) Wallace; sons, Patrick H. of Charles Town, West Virginia, and Christopher J. of Clyde; and daughter-in-law, Christina Smith of West Virginia; and four grandchildren, Aydrian, Brooklyn, Chloey, and Dylan, all of Clyde.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Wallace of Bellevue and a niece, Lorra McNally.

A family celebration of life will be at a later date.

Memorial contribu-tions can be made to School of Hope, Fremont, or Wounded Warriors.

Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, has been entrusted with arrangements.

I just saw Howard at Diana's Restaurant on Thanksgiving.
I think he remembered me. We were neighbors around the corner, Maple and Walter. And graduated together '66.
My sympathy and prayers to his family.
