Helen Hofacker, 89, of Monroeville, died early Sunday morning, Nov. 6, 2022, at The Willows at Bellevue following a brief illness.

She was born Nov. 3, 1933, in Norwalk, and was a 1951 graduate of Norwalk St. Paul High School. Helen volunteered many years at Fisher Titus Hospital and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Monroeville, and Monroeville Athletic Boosters.

She loved watching her family participate in their sporting events and was an avid Monroeville Eagles fan. She enjoyed doing counted cross stitch, playing cards, and working in her yard. Her family was her pride and joy.

She is survived by her three children, Susan (Kenneth) Schafer of Monroeville, Stephen (Jennifer) Hofacker of Fremont, and Michael (Molly) Hofacker of Dayton; 10 grandchildren, Gregory Schafer, Jessica Wasserman, Stephanie VanFleet, Catherine Hofacker, Rachel Hofacker, Alexandria Hofacker, Madison Hofacker, Cassidy Hofacker, Kelsi Hofacker, and Kali Hofacker; 10 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Catherine Tyler; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Therese Hofacker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hofacker in 1985; parents, Arthur and Euretta Gahagan; and two brothers and their wives, Arthur and Carolyn Gahagan, and Harold and Molly Gahagan.

Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2022, at Pfeil Funeral Home, Monroeville Chapel, 109 Monroe Street, Monroeville. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 66 Chapel Street, Monroeville. Fr. Chris Jesudhason will officiate. Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
