Harry Richard Byron, 79, passed away peacefully at home after a sudden illness Thursday, January 1, 2026.

Born December 28, 1946, to Paul and Mary (Tester) Byron. Harry was a 1964 graduate of New London High School and lived most of his life in the area before moving to Florida in 2020.

Harry was known as a very friendly soul with an infectious smile. To know him was to love him. He was a very hard-worker, often working seven days a week, twelve hours a day. He played baseball on the New London Senior Little League team that placed third in the World Series in 1962. While playing high school baseball, he was often scouted by the Cleveland Indians.

He was awarded an apprenticeship in pipe fitting, which landed him a position at NASA Plum Brook Station, where he worked on rocket engines. He then worked at the Ford plant in Avon Lake for 47 years. When he retired, he moved to Lehigh Acres, Florida.

Harry was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed hunting, golf and spending time with family and friends. He loved watching sports, especially Cleveland and Ohio State teams.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; his sister, Shirley (Byron) Burton; his brother, Gary Byron; his sons and daughters-in-law, Denny and Linda (O'Dell) Byron and Aaron and April (Eggenschwiler) Byron; his stepdaughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Robert Heyd; grandchildren, Caitlyn (Frank), Kennedy, Mallory, Lindsey, Jacob (Lindsey), Matthew, Benjamin, Grady and Kevin; and many nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his many friends in the Westminster community.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Rolland Burton; and granddaughter, Leslie.

A private celebration of life will be at a later date.
