Harold Fries, 94, life-time resident of rural Willard, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2023, at St. Francis Home, Tiffin.
He was born May 3, 1928, in Plymouth, to the late Vernon and Mildred (Smith) Fries. Harold lived on, operated, and was dedicated to the family farm which is still operational in its fourth generation. He retired from U.S. Postal Service after over 32 of service and served on Firelands Electric Board for 26 years. He spent over 40 years playing in and leading dance bands, the most recent being called the "Serenaders." Harold was an avid card player, with euchre being his favorite, and he loved to travel.
He is survived by his spouse of over 74 years, Mary (Nickoli) Fries, whom he married Sept. 25, 1948; children, Sandra (Dieter) Kraft, Shirley (Adam) Fries, Sheila (Mike) Buurma, and Scott (Marilyn) Fries; sister, Corinne Stiving; 12 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his children, Steve Fries and an infant, Stacy Fries; and brother, Kenneth Fries.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at Secor Funeral Home, Willard. Harold's celebration of life will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at the funeral home with Pastor Dan Caudill officiating. Burial will follow at Centerton Cemetery, Centerton.

Harold will be greatly missed. Always enjoyed our conversations when I was a child when he delivered our mail on Miller Rd. He Always had a smile and kind words. Prayers for peace and our condolences to the family.
