Harley Dean Reed, 84, of Willard, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023, at Willard Mercy Hospital.

He was born Oct. 27, 1939, in North Fairfield, the son of Claude and Agnes Reed. Harley was a 1957 graduate of North Fairfield High School and served in Air National Guard in Mansfield from 1961-1966.

Harley married Ruth Gies on May 7, 1966. He joined his father working at Reed's Garage, which he owned and operated for 50 years. Harley also worked for Huron County Highway Department from 1996-2000 as well as serving as the Water Superintendent for 30 years for North Fairfield from 1970-2000. Harley was a life member of North Fairfield Historical Society and member of American Legion. He enjoyed golfing, classic cars, and drag racing.

Harley's survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy and Stephanie (nee Sears) Reed and Matthew and Kelly (nee Doyle) Reed; grandsons, Josh and Zak Reed; great-grandsons, Hayden and Carter Reed; and brother-in-law, Gordon Oney.

He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife of 56 years, Ruth Reed; sister, Kathy Oney; and nephew, David Oney.

A private graveside service will take place at St. Alphonsus Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 66 Chapel St., Monroeville, Ohio, 44847, or North Fairfield American Legion, 523 OH-162, North Fairfield, Ohio, 44855.
