Grace Horning Obituary

Grace Ann Horning

Oct 8, 1944 - Jul 1, 2025

Norwalk

Grace Ann Horning, 80, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 1, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, graciousness and truly loved what mattered, her family.

Grace was born October 8, 1944, in Buffalo, New York, and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, by her mother, Katherine Mary, and father, Henry Frank Prusak Sr.

Grace was married James Patrick Horning October 23, 1965, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and he survives. The greatest joy in her life was being a proud mother to six children, Katherine Inez Tusing, Patrick Willam (Dawn) Horning, Daniel Scott Horning, Thomas James (Kathy) Horning, Anthony Wayne (Callie) Horning, and Bryan Christopher Horning (who preceded her in death). Grace had 11 grandchildren, Bradley M. (Shannon) Hahn, Stephen P. Hahn, Keegan E. Tusing, Cailyn G. Tusing, Tiffany M. Horning, Traci A. Horning, Tyler P. Horning, Tori B. Horning, Willow D. (Micheal) McCarly, Hyacin F. Horning, and River A. Horning. She also enjoyed bragging to family and friends about her nine great-grandchildren, Elaina R. Hahn, Kenzie R. Hahn, Lydia M. Hahn, Braxton M. Lebron, Lane E. Hahn, Carter P. Mesenburg, Lylah A. Oates, Reese M. McCarly, and Ryland L. McCarly.

Grace was also survived by her five siblings, Jean M. Wood of Albuquerque New Mexico, Henry F. (Eileen) Prusak Jr. of Danielson Connecticut, Patricia G. Chismar of Denver Colorado, Kathy L. (Lawrence; Tony) Rivera of Albuquerque New Mexico, and David R. (Rhonda) Prusak of Moriarty, New Mexico.

She was preceded in death by her sister in infancy, Margaret Elizabeth.

Grace was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church in Norwalk for over 45 years. She was in charge of the church's Love Fund and enjoyed helping families in need.

Before becoming a mother and grandmother, Grace worked at Fanny Farmer in Norwalk and Freudenberg (Nok Sealing Technology), currently known as Trans Tech. Grace was active in her children's education, volunteering her time on the PTO. As her children became older, Grace enjoyed taking care of other children and babysitting at her home.

She was known as the family historian. Grace could remember birth and anniversary dates of all family members, including great-grandparents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Grace was the family's go-to person when we wanted to know all family history.

Grace was blessed with many friends who came to know her through volunteer activities and her membership at First United Methodist Church. Her friends know her as a supportive and forgiving person.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 7, 2025, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Grace will be deeply missed by her family, and her memory will live on in the legacy of her children and friends.
