Gloria Scagnetti Obituary

Gloria L. Scagnetti

Jul 31, 1937 - Aug 12, 2024

Norwalk

Gloria L. Scagnetti, 87, died peacefully Monday, Aug. 12, 2024, at Twilight Gardens in Norwalk.

She was born July 31, 1937, in Norwalk. Gloria was a lifelong area resident. She graduated from Milan High School in 1955 and later earned a business certificate. Gloria would find her niche in banking, holding various positions within local banks until she retired as a bank manager.

Never one to sit still, Gloria always found ways to keep herself busy, which was perhaps the key to her long and fulfilling life. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Milan and Norwalk Eagles. Socializing was important to Gloria and she loved the time she spent with her friends, be it regular card/board game gatherings, her daily lunch outings, or anything else she could do to get out and enjoy life to the fullest. Perhaps her favorite activity was her weekly line dancing at the American Legion on Thursday nights. She loved the music, the dances, and getting to know other attendees.

Gloria's survivors include her beloved nieces and nephews, Kathy Gast, Lynne (Mel Poeppelman) Gilbert, Jeff (Jeanette) Gilbert, Scott (Kathy) Leber, Gary Leber, and Cindy Tallman; half-brother, William Leber; and a multitude of friends who will cherish her memory and the joy that she brought to every occasion.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Scagnetti; parents, Roy and Katherine "Katie" (Andrews) Leber; sister, Jean Gilbert; and brother, Rich Leber.

Visitation for family and friends will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, 2024, until the time of Gloria's funeral at 11 a.m. at St. John United Church of Christ, 2712 Mason Rd., Milan, Ohio, 44846. The Rev. Wendy Schindler-Chasney will officiate. Gloria will be interred at St. John's Cemetery with her husband, James, at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to St. John United Church of Christ in Milan.

Gloria was such a big part of our family´s life when we were growing up. She and Scag were part of my parent´s social life and we were the lucky recipients to be underfoot in those days. They had nothing but smiles and love for us. I will never forget them...May Gloria rest in Peace. Xoxoxo
