George Samuel Swicker, 85, of Leesburg, Virginia, passed away peacefully at his home Saturday, November 1, 2025, with his devoted wife, Eileen, by his side.

Born March 29, 1940, in Norwalk, Ohio, George was the son of George and Pauline Swicker. In 1958, he answered the call to service and joined the United States Marine Corps, serving with honor in Vietnam. His courage, discipline, and leadership in combat became the foundation of a lifetime devoted to serving and protecting his country.

Following his military service, George brought his extraordinary dedication and talent to the Central Intelligence Agency, joining as an operations officer in 1962. There, he met the love of his life, fellow CIA officer Eileen, and together they served their country across Asia, Europe, Central America, and Africa. After the attacks of September 11, George served in the U.S. efforts overseas, in war zones and continued the mission to confront global terrorism. He was, at heart, a protector-relentlessly committed to keeping America safe.

Known as a charismatic and tireless warrior in the fight to safeguard American lives, George rose to the highest ranks of the Agency and served as chief of station and in senior leadership positions at CIA Headquarters. He earned both a bachelor and master degree at George Washington University.

A revered mentor, George trained and guided generations of young officers, shaping the Agency's future with the same boldness and integrity that defined his career. During his service, he earned numerous commendations, including the highly prestigious Donovan Award, one of the Agency's most distinguished honors. Upon his retirement in 2014, he left behind a legacy of valor, wisdom, and unwavering patriotism.

Beyond his remarkable career, George was a man of endless warmth, energy, and charm. A quintessential extrovert with a booming sense of humor, he could light up a room and make every person feel like family. Friends called him "a force of nature"-larger than life, endlessly optimistic, and impossible to forget.

After fully retiring, George and Eileen embraced a quieter life surrounded by the beauty of their Loudoun County farm. Together they cared lovingly for their land and animals, opened their doors to friends and family, and traveled widely-treasuring time in Tuscany, Normandy, and along antique trails across the eastern United States. He lived life joyfully and completely, taking his final trip-a cruise down the Mississippi River-just days before his passing.

George is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Eileen; his siblings, Annette Kerlin and Janet Poyer; his three daughters, Lisa and Pete Dickason, Robin and Mark Jordan, and Saadia Swicker and husband, Ben Helmrich; four grandchildren, Justin and Hannah Coutu and Garrett and Lilly Dickason; and his cherished great-grandchildren, Clementine, Penelope, and Charli; and his faithful dog, Rambo.

George was preceded in death by his sisters, Patricia Biggs and Barbara Lerch.

His family takes comfort knowing he lived a life of deep purpose, fierce love, and extraordinary service.
