Bonita Springs Florida
Gary Whetsel Mullins passed away peacefully at his home in Bonita Springs, Florida, Thursday, May 22, 2025, with his daughters by his side.
Born October 8, 1939, in Beefhide, Kentucky, Gary was the beloved son of the late Hobert and Hazel Violet Mullins. A graduate of Jenkins High School, Gary married his high school sweetheart, Betty Chandler. Together, they raised three daughters, Angela, Tammy, and Lori.
In 1958, Gary proudly joined the United States Navy, serving his country as a first-class radio operator for eleven years. After his military service, he moved to Huron, Ohio, in 1969, where he began a long and dedicated career with the Ford Motor Company in Lorain. He retired in 1997 after nearly three decades of service.
Later in life, Gary found love again with Carol Beach. The two shared 36 beautiful years of marriage, enjoying retirement together in Bonita Springs, Florida.
A man of deep faith and unwavering values, Gary was a proud member of the Masons and a faithful supporter of his church. He had a passion for the open road, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles across the country well into his 80s. Whether on two wheels or at the table with a scoop of butter pecan ice cream, Gary embraced life fully. His family fondly remembers his final days filled with laughter, love, and his brother Benny's famous gravy and biscuits, cornbread and milk, and Nancy's white half-runner green beans.
Gary is survived by his daughters, Angela Mullins and Lori (James) Mullins-Harvey; his grandchildren, Jaclyn Krumlauf, Jessica (Tommy) Harvey-Lilley, and Kelley (Joe) Harvey-Fisher; and many great-grandchildren who affectionately knew him as "Papaw." He also leaves behind his stepchildren, Colleen (Tim) Beach-Lehrer, Dawn (Sam) Hohler, Ryan (April) Beach, and Julie Beach; and siblings, Benny (Nancy) Mullins, Jim (Daphine) Mullins, Dee Davis, Laverne (Onnie) Winebarger, and Linda (Steve) Pace.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tammy Mullins-Krumlauf; his wife, Carol Mullins; siblings, Evie McFall and Anna Blevins; and grandsons, Jacob Knittle and Austin Knittle.
