Florence "Jean" Rock, 92, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully from this life to the next Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, at home.
She was born Jan. 5, 1930, in Dixon, Illinois, to the late Daniel and Florence (Yocum) Cruse.
Jean was an active member of Norwalk First United Methodist Church and lifelong member of Norwalk V.F.W. Auxiliary. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and crafting and had a full-time craft shop, the "Backyard Shop" in Norwalk.
She is survived by her children, Barbara (Mike) Hickey, Alan (Judy) Glenn, and Gavin (Peggy) Glenn; stepchildren, Terry, Dan, and Gary Rock, Karen Briggs, Mary Thompson, and Connie Olshewski; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brother, Roger Cruse; and "bonus brother," Don (Julie) Knox.
In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard J. Rock; son, Steven Glenn; brothers, Elwood, Mick, Dan Jr., Donald, and Peter; and stepson, David Rock.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, 2022, until the time of Jean's service at 11 a.m. at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk. The Rev. Dr. Brian Oglesbee will be officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Norwalk.
Jean was always giving of herself in terms of time and philanthropic interests. To honor her, memorial contributions may be directed to Doctors Without Borders USA, P.O. Jean Rock was a sweet, funny, giving lady. She was always willing to help at church-ever faithful. We have benefited from her card ministry and telephone ministry. We will miss her. What a wonderful Christian witness we had the privilege of knowing. Ben Kenny and Linda Williams
