Edwin V. "Ed" Hargate Jr., 96, of Mentor, died Wednesday, July 19, 2023.
Edwin was the beloved husband of 63 years to Arlene B. Hargate (nee Beardsley), who preceded him in death, dear father of Edwin V. Hargate III (Kate) and Daphne Hargate, loving grandfather of Edwin (Sinta), William, and Timothy Hargate, great-grandfather of Malaya, and dear brother of Dolores Anderson (deceased) and Herb Hargate.
Ed was an expert photographer and veteran of World War II, United States Marines. Ed worked for over 30 years as a chemist with Basic Chemical and Glidden Paint.
Ed's funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2023, at SCHULTE & MAHON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 5252 Mayfield Rd., Lyndhurst (between Richmond and Brainard). Interment will be at Crown Hill Burial Park Cemetery, Vienna, Ohio.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday, July 31, 2023, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions in the memory of Ed to The Salvation Army, 2507 E. 22nd St., Cleveland, Ohio, 44115.
