Dorothy Blondin Obituary

Dorothy Blondin
Dorothy Blondin, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, renowned architectural illustrator, and fine artist, passed away peacefully, on May 30, 2024, at the age of 90. Her life was a masterpiece of creativity, passion, and dedication to the arts.
From an early age, Dorothy showed a remarkable talent for art. Even in elementary school, she preferred sketching to homework-a foreshadowing of her lifelong commitment to her craft. Winning an art scholarship to the prestigious Art Institute of Chicago in 8th grade was just the beginning of her illustrious career.
Throughout her life, Dorothy left an indelible mark on the art world. As a freelance architectural illustrator and fine artist, she showcased her unique style in countless competitions and exhibits, earning her well-deserved acclaim. Her role as the chairman of the women's committee of fine arts allowed her to nurture and inspire future generations of artists, a legacy that will endure for years to come.
Despite her prestigious accomplishments, Dorothy remained true to herself, always doing things her own way. Her passion for art never waned, even as she balanced her creative pursuits with raising a family and pursuing other interests. Her dedication knew no bounds, and she continued to create beauty as long as she physically could.
Dorothy found joy and solace in the simple pleasures of life, particularly her love for the water. Whether boating with her late husband Bob "Fatz", sailing, or swimming, she cherished every moment spent by the water's edge in Yalaha, Florida where they relocated to in 1983. Her admiration for beautifully illustrated books on art and architecture, especially those featuring her beloved City of Chicago, was evident to all who knew her.
Family meant everything to Dorothy, and she had a special place in her heart for her three great grandchildren, whom she affectionately called her "little rockets." Her love for them knew no bounds, and she took great joy in watching them grow and thrive.
In addition to her passion for art and family, Dorothy had a few indulgences of her own. She had a fondness for Elvis Presley's music, which always brought a smile to her face, and she had a weakness for dark chocolate, savoring every rich bite.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Rhonda White (nee Quintavalle) (Bill Fleming); granddaughter, Kimberly White (Mike Canfarelli); grandson, Kevin White; great-grandchildren, Lucas, Logan, Lily; half sister, Mary Ann Williams; niece, RoseAnn Richards and family; and the extended Blondin Family
She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Volke; mother, Johanna (nee Drachenberg) Winchester; step-father, John Winchester; husband, Robert (Bob) Blondin; former husband, William Quintavalle; and brother, Theodore Wincheski
Dorothy will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, but her legacy of creativity, love, strength, and stubbornness will live on forever in the hearts of those she touched.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association in memory of Dorothy Blondin.
Rest in peace, Dorothy, your memory will be cherished always.
