Donald L. Smith, 89, passed Thursday, Jan. 26, 2023. He was born Dec. 27, 1933, in Barberton, to Donald and Florence (Moore) Smith. He married his high school sweetheart, Betty (Woodworth), March 7, 1954. He honorably served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
Donald was a mason by trade. He worked as a plant manager at Ready Mix Concrete before starting his own company, Concrete Finishers Inc.
Donald leaves behind to treasure his memory, his wife of 69 years, Betty; his children, Raymond (Nancy) Smith, Cheryl (Ron) Kessler, Mark (Sue) Smith; seven grandchildren, Jason Kessler, Erin (Ian) Isch, Bret Kessler, Matthew (Mary) Smith, Cory (Chloe) Smith, Kaylee (Cody) Tanner, Ashley Smith, six great-grandchildren; Meredith Kessler, Olyve Isch, Adelynn Isch, Elynn Isch, Ben Patterson, and Brielle Smith.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2023, at Hanneman Funeral Home 323 Myrtle Avenue Willard, OH 44890. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2023, at the funeral home. Interment will take place following at North Fairfield Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
