Donald Lloyd Pittman, 89, went into the arms of Jesus on Friday, Dec. 1, 2023, surrounded by his family.
He was born Jan. 10, 1934, in Mercersburg, Pennsylvania, to Paul G. and Lelia B. (Millis) Pittman.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Arlene C. (Werner) Pittman; three children, Shannon (John) Thompson, Valerie (Rick) Brown, and Clay (Deborah) Pittman; eight grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and four siblings, Phyllis Pittman, "Bus" Wallace Pittman, "Skip" Delmar Pittman, and Devonah Pittman Karnehm.
Don and his wife, Arlene, are members of Victory Baptist Church in Norwalk and attended Needmore Bible Church after moving to Pennsylvania. The Pittmans also hosted the Royal Rangers Pow Wow Camp for the last 25 years where many young boys were presented with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and taught survival techniques.
Donald was a founding member of Banshees Fast Draw Club in Sandusky, which is still in existence as the oldest Ohio Fast Draw Association International Club, named Banshees for a World War II Submarine Crew.
Donald retired from New Departure Hyatt, a GM manufacturing facility, in Sandusky, where he was employed for 30 years. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman and was loved and admired by anyone that knew him.
Visitation for family and friends will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023, until the time of Donald's funeral at 1 p.m. at Needmore Bible Church, 6939 Great Cove Rd., Needmore, Pennsylvania. Graveside interment will follow at Tonoloway Primitive Baptist Church, Thompson Road, Needmore, Pennsylvania. A meal will be provided at Needmore Bible Church following interment.
In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to The Royal Rangers Outpost 100 in care of Hancock Assembly of God, 431 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Hancock, Maryland, 21750.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Grove-Rogowski Funeral Home, 141 West Main St., Hancock, Maryland.
