Doddie Neumeyer Obituary

Doddie Z. J. Neumeyer

Nov 13, 1959 - Apr 21, 2025

Castalia

Doddie Z. (Meyer) Neumeyer, 65, of Castalia, passed away peacefully early Monday evening, April 21, 2025, at her home after a lengthy illness.

Born November 13, 1959, in Sandusky, the daughter of Daniel C. and Deanna Jean (Hastings) Meyer. She was a graduate of Sandusky High School. For several years, she had been a bartender in the local area and had later owned and operated the Sportsman Club.

Doddie will be remembered by her family for her love of all animals and being involved in rescuing them (if needed), be it her dogs or the horses she cared for at Steinen's Stables in years past. She also enjoyed spending time tending to her plants and her garden.

Doddie was a member of Sandusky Athletic Club and had belonged to the Sandusky Orioles Club, Nest No. 279 and AMVETS Post No. 17.

She is survived by her son, Bradley C. (Precious Goodrich and her son, Xander) Neumeyer of Castalia; her mother, Deanna J. (Hastings) Purcell of Georgia; a sister, Danna Grace of Georgia; and she was like a daughter to Doddie, Stephanie (Zachary) Popke-Miller of Castalia; nieces and nephews.

Doddie was preceded in death by her father, Daniel Meyer; her husband of 21 years, Frederick J. "Butch" Neumeyer (2011); a brother, Joel "Butch" (Hastings) Butts; her maternal grandfather, Charles Hastings; and the significant love of her life for the past 5 years, Robert J. "Robbie" Popke (2023).

It was her wish to be cremated. The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Monday, April 28, 2025, at David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday morning, April 29, 2025, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Kenneth Lewis officiating.

The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in her name to Humane Society of Erie County, 1911 Superior Street, Sandusky, OH 44870 or to one's favorite charity.
