Deborah Brown Obituary

Deborah Brown

Feb 23, 1937 - Jul 8, 2024

Norwalk

Deborah "Deb" Brown, 87, of Norwalk, and long-time resident of Greenwich, peacefully passed away Monday, July 8, 2024, to be with her Lord and Savior.

Deb was born Feb. 23, 1937, in Ripley Township, the daughter of Vern and Ruth (Swanger) Barre. Her life was a testament to love, resilience, and unwavering faith.

Deb was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, neighbor, and friend. She was the beloved wife of Lawrence Brown Jr., whom she married Aug. 29, 1952, in Knoxville, Tennessee. They shared 42 wonderful years of marriage filled with family and love. Her life was a testament to love, resilience, and unwavering faith. She was a nurturing and supportive mother to her children, Michael, Cynthia, and Larry, who were her greatest blessings and the light of her life. She dedicated herself to raising them with love and wisdom.

Deb's sweetest source of happiness was family, particularly in her roles as a grandmother and great-grandmother. She was affectionately known as "Grandma Deb" and "Tootsie Roll Grandma" to her eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her later years. Tootsie Roll Grandma cherished the moments spent teaching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren to play cards. She also enjoyed playing cards with neighbors and friends, where friendly competition and heartfelt conversations filled the room with cheerfulness and camaraderie. She was a long-time member of The Ripley Church and spent many years volunteering and supporting those in need. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and inspiring those around her.

Deb is survived by her children, Michael (Deb) and Larry (Kelly); son-in-law, Gerald (Sandi); grandchildren Molly, Ashley, Krissy, Hannah, Bradley, Hollie, April, and Jarrod; great-grandchildren, Trey, Bode, Dominic, Frankie, Vinnie, Piper, Sammy, Beau, Knox, Liberty, Reese, Reagan, Alex, Max, Brady, Levi, and Elliot; and many friends and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jr.; and daughter, Cynthia.

The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. Deb's celebration of life memorial service will start with visitation at 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 12 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, 2024, at The Ripley Church, 4130 Edward's Rd,, Greenwich.

In lieu of flowers, she requested donations be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, Tennessee, 38105.

Deb's legacy of love, kindness, generosity, and card playing will forever remain in our hearts. Rest in peace, dear Mom, Grandma Deb, Tootsie Roll Grandma, and friend. You will be deeply missed and eternally loved. LVU, LVU, LVU.

Our family would like to thank the SouthernCare Hospice family for the loving care and kindness shown to our mother, Deb, throughout these many months.
