David G. Ringholz, 74, residing in Norwalk, passed away early Tuesday morning, Sept. 13, 2022, at home with his loving wife by his side after living a life with cancer for 18 years.
David was born May 17, 1948, in Norwalk, to the late Gladys (Gabb) and Carl Ringholz.
David graduated from St. Paul High School in 1966, attended Ashland College, and received his Civil Engineering degree from University of Toledo in 1971. He proudly served his country as a member of U.S. Navy from 1972â€"1977. David's time in the Navy took him to many places including Rhode Island, California, Florida, and Texas. David was a dedicated civil engineer for Naval Facilities Engineering Command in Albany, Georgia. In his early years, David had summer jobs at Lodermeier's Linwood Garage and Roth Construction Company. The experience David gained during these years gave him the skills to be an excellent handyman. He had the ability to handle any project that was needed at home. David enjoyed automobiles, motorcycles, power tools, and electronics.
David is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marie (Schaafsma) Ringholz, whom he married June 27, 1970; sister, Carol Shaffoe of Milan; brother, Robert (Karen) Ringholz of Spring, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his sister, Kathy Meagrow; and brothers-in-law, Thomas Shaffoe and Brian Meagrow.
Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, 2022, at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio, 44857. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19, 2022, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio, 44857. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Huron County Humane Society, 246 Woodlawn Avenue, Norwalk, Ohio, 44857, Stein Hospice Services, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, Ohio, 44870, or to a hospice of the donor's choosing.
