Darrin Garrett Obituary

Darrin Garrett

Dec 25, 1965 - Aug 4, 2025

Sandusky

It is with deep sadness and love that we announce the passing of Darrin Garrett, a devoted father, cherished friend and the heart of every room he entered. Darrin passed away surrounded by family, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, love, and dedication to those he cared for most.

Born and raised in Sandusky, Darrin joined Second Baptist Church at a young age under the Reverend W.B. Stephens. He attended Sandusky City Schools, where he participated in sports and was best known for his wrestling skills. Darrin later attended BGSU Firelands, majoring in Art, and worked for Erie County Metro Housing, retiring after 20-plus years. He loved the water, fishing and swimming with his children.

Darrin was a man who knew how to find joy in the simple things. Whether it was cracking a perfectly timed joke, pulling off a prank, or sharing a warm smile, he had a rare gift for making people laugh when they needed it most. His sense of humor was infectious, his laughter was loud and genuine, his stories unforgettable, his presence impossible to ignore, and his absence will be felt even more. Beyond his humor was a man whose greatest pride was his family. If you knew Darrin, you knew joy. He lived for his loved ones and was present at every milestone with full support.

Darrin is survived by his son, Jared Gadd; daughters, Lauren Gadd, Brenna and Bailey Garrett; and his beloved granddaughter, Camden Jade. He leaves behind his loving parents, Juana Garrett and Robert Garrett; his brothers, Stephen and Brian Garrett, with whom he shared an irreplaceable bond; nieces, Chantal, Imagine and Elise; nephew, Stephen and many other extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

A celebration of life will be Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at Second Baptist Church, 315 Decatur St., Sandusky. Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. until time of funeral services at noon.

Flowers and contributions in his memory may be sent to the church. Burial will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.

Rest easy, Darrin. Thank you for every smile, every joke, your unconditional love and every joy you gave us. You will be missed more than words can say. Although we are heartbroken, we are so grateful to have loved him.
