Daniel Geiger Obituary

Daniel E. "Dan" Geiger

Oct 26, 1947 - Jan 31, 2023

Sandusky

Daniel E. "Dan" Geiger, 75, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, Jan. 31, 2023, at his home.

Dan was born Oct. 26, 1947, in Sandusky, the son of Edwin Charles and Audrey Virginia (Roberts) Geiger. He was a 1966 graduate of Perkins High School and later received his Bachelors Degree in Accounting from Tiffin University in 1972. While in college, and having a great singing voice, he was a member of a folk group and also sang at other outings and activities for friends. He was a veteran having served honorably in U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. Dan was a supervisor of production control at Sandusky Foundry, later known as Sandusky International and retired from MetalTek International, where he worked for nearly 40 years.

Heaven to Dan was the outdoors. He was a true outdoorsman. He loved fishing, camping, being on the water (being either the lake or the ocean), spending time on the beach, and watching and listening to birds for hours (he could name all types). He found comfort in gardening and working on landscaping projects, even doing jobs for his friends. He just truly loved nature.

Dan was a member of St. Stephen United Church of Christ, Delta Sigma Kappa honors fraternity, American Legion Post # 83, V.F.W. Post # 2529, Sandusky Eagles AERIE # 444, and social member of I.A. B. Club.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sandra J. "Sandy" (Yash) Geiger; two sons, Kevin (Jennifer "Jenn") Geiger and Ryan Geiger, both of Sandusky; four grandchildren, Kailey, Jake, Caden, and Keira; two stepgrandchildren, Kayla and Taylor; sister, Darlene (Tom) Fey of Easley, South Carolina; daughter-in-law, Jenn of Painesville; nieces, nephews, and other relatives; and his buddies and companions, Mandy and Sammy.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Jeff Geiger.

It was his wish to be cremated. There will be no funeral.

The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made in his name to Stein Hospice Service Inc., 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, Ohio, 44870.

Arrangements have been entrusted to David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.

Hard to believe that my neighbor is gone. Dan was such a kind man to me and my boys. He was always there ready to help cut my firewood along with Sandy! They were my family. Dan you may be gone, but never forgotten. R.I.H. Dan.

I never met such a handworking man, friend, and neighbor. I have many memories of Dan cutting my firewood in pieces that I could use. He was always available to help. He will be missed. Prayers for Sandy, Kevin, Ryan who I love very much. May Dan R.I.P.
