Carolyn Ruth (Welker) Richards passed away in the care of Southern Care Hospice after a lengthy illness.

She was born Feb. 20, 1943, in Rocky River, to Carl and Elizabeth Welker.

Carolyn graduated from Magnificat All Girls Catholic College Preparatory High School in 1963. She went to Mercy Hospital School of Nursing where she graduated as a registered nurse.

She spent her life working as a RN for various facilities including Fairview Hospital, Lakewood Hospital, Fisher-Titus Medical Center, and Stein Hospice. She worked as a home health nurse until her retirement in 2014.

Carolyn was an avid reader, history buff, and some of her happiest times were spent at their beloved cottage on Mascoma Lake in Enfield, New Hampshire, and their farm on Heartland Center Rd. in Collins.

She is survived by her sister, MaryEllen (Welker) Hill of North Carolina; niece, Katie (Hill) Bahnsen of North Carolina; sons, Michael (Catherine) Richards of Milan and John "Moose" (Michelle) Leimeister of Collins; daughters, Eileen (Barton) Girdwood of Loveland and Kerry (Norman) Faste of Center City, Minnesota; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Elizabeth Welker; and husband, Frederick Charles Richards.

Per Carolyn's wishes, there will be a private burial.
