Carolyn Kaple Obituary

Carolyn Anne Kaple

Jun 13, 1938 - Nov 14, 2024

New Washington

Carolyn Anne Kaple, 86, of New Washington, passed away surrounded by family at Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2024, after a battle with illness. She was born June 13, 1938, in New Washington to the late Alfred Karl and Elizabeth Ryman.

Carolyn loved singing and frequently performed at local weddings. She even appeared on the Gene Carroll show in Cleveland as a teenager. As an adult, she led musical performances to raise money for St. Bernard's school and was a dedicated member of the Buckeye Central School Board for decades. She was a graduate of Providence Nursing School and worked for Drs. Kenny & Barth in New Washington for many years. She also served as the head administrative nurse at Shelby Hospital and Mansfield General Hospital.

In 1959, she married Bernard "Bud" Kaple, with whom she raised two sons, Jeff and Scott. She always remained close to her sisters, who enjoyed regular lunch dates. She loved taking her five grandchildren to restaurants and never missed a concert, play, or recital. Her deep love for family was plain to all who knew her.

Carolyn is survived by her two sons, Dr. Scott (Karen) Kaple of Norwalk and Jeff Kaple (Amy Szymkowiak) of Mansfield; five grandchildren, Michael Kaple, Elizabeth Kaple (Zebulon Wimsatt), Patrick (Marlea) Kaple, Jack Kaple and Anna Grace Kaple; two sisters, Sharon (Dale) Scheid and Debbie (Jim) Sheppers; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Suzanne (Ben) Lash, Jan Frazee and David "Demps" (Heather) Kaple; and several nieces and nephews.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her mother, Betty (Stan) Ryman; father, Alfred (Agnes) Karl; husband, Bud Kaple, in 1987; and sisters, Diane Boehler and Mary Jo Wilken.

Family and friends may visit from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, 2024, at Secor Funeral Home in New Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18, 2024, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in New Washington, with the Rev. Valerian Lawara and the Rev. Frank Kehres officiating. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery, New Washington.
