Carl Richard Woodyard Sr., 74, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 11, 2024, surrounded by his family.

He was born June 13, 1949, in Athens, Ohio, to Delmar and Dorothy (Markin) Woodyard, who preceded him in death. He served in U.S. Army from 1967-1970 and received the bronze star with valor and was a recipient of the purple heart. He began pastoring in North Carolina and Mansfield and moved to Norwalk in 1983 with his vision to build Mt. Harvest Church of God in Milan. It was completed in 1988. He enjoyed over 45 years of church leadership and enjoyed spending time with his church friends, family, and grandchildren. He enjoyed the outdoors, mowing, and working with his hands.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Marcia (Woodruff) Woodyard; children, Carl "Joe" (Angie) Woodyard Jr. of Norwalk, Jay (Liz) Woodyard of Huron, and Arianne (Rick) Yontz of Norwalk; grandchildren, Amelia, Abby, Lydia, Sianna, Landen, Lincoln, Levi, and Jude; sisters, Susan Zimmerman of Mansfield and Peggy Lillibridge of Mansfield; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation for family and friends will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024, until the time of Carl's service at 1 p.m. at Mt. Harvest Church of God, 150 State Route 113, Milan. Burial with military honors will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Norwalk.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Mt. Harvest Church of God, 150 State Route 113, Milan, Ohio, 44846.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk.
