Brian M. Steele, 51, lost his battle with heart failure Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024. He passed away peacefully with his wife, Mary L. Mutnansky, holding him and surrounded with love by his daughter, Keeanne T. Steele. Family members had the opportunity to say their peace, goodbyes, and love.

Brian, also known as "The Man of Steele," was born July 26, 1972, in Indiana, Pennsylvania, to Judy Oberton and Thomas Steele. He was Irish and very proud of it. Most reading this will know that Brian was one of the goofiest, smart alec, and sarcastic humans. Most also know that he was one of the most caring, generous, and supportive humans. He would give you the shirt off your back while making a sarcastic joke about why you need it. One of his favorite long running jokes was throwing a yellow letter "P" magnet at you while shouting "Oh my gosh, I'm sorry I peed on you." Every year for Christmas, us children would get random items in our stocking from him. Plastic funnels, silverware, drill bits. His teenage daughter is walking through the house singing Jingle Bells, "Oh what fun it is to ride..." He shouts "YOUR MOM!" Of course, immediately grossing all of us out. His shenanigans were endless and he did it all to make you smile. He would never let you leave his presence without a smile.

Brian enjoyed all things Pittsburgh, the Steelers being his favorite. He enjoyed tinkering around in his garage with his grandson, Joey. He enjoyed being someone that Joey looked up to. Brian's favorite titles in life were "Dad" and "Bpa." Joey knew if he said "Bpa will do it for me," he would in fact do it for him, no matter the task. He was an avid fan of the band Carbon Leaf, seeing them in concert several times with his daughters and wife. Brian enjoyed all things tech, recently getting a 3D Printer, printing earrings, Minecraft Creepers for Joey. He worked in IT for 30 years, holding several different levels of positions throughout his career. He loved learning new things for his jobs and loved helping people. He was a die hard fan of Superman. Brian was also an avid blood donor, giving over two gallons of blood in his life.

Left to cherish his memory and carry on his spirit are his beloved wife, Mary (Mutnansky); sons, Logan Steele and Ethan Steele; daughters, Leighton Steele and Keeanne Steele; stepsons whom he raised as his own, Brent (Tetiana) Wheeler and Trevor (Kyley) Wheeler; stepdaughter whom he raised as his own and often referred to her as his favorite stepdaughter even though she was his only, Brianna Wheeler; grandsons, Joey Capizzi and Liam Wheeler; beloved dog, who will be lost without him, Ireland; mother, Judy Oberton; and many other aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Steele; grandmother, "Mimi" Phyllis Lukehart; and grandfather, Papaw Lukehart.

Visitation for family and friends will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, 2024, at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk. The family asks you to wear Steelers gear, black and yellow, or Irish gear.

The family would like to thank University Hospitals Cleveland Staff for taking great care and trying so hard to help him fight this battle. The family would also like to thank anyone who reached out with kind words, prayers, and good vibes during this difficult time. They would also like to thank anyone who helped, whether it be rides, helping with car troubles, food, or support. They appreciate everything.
