Betty Carney, 79, of Willard, passed away Friday, January 10, 2025, in Norwalk. She was born March 17, 1945, in Shelby, to the late Robert and Helen (Garrett) Remmy. Betty worked at Pepperidge Farm and was an avid reader. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and listening to music. She loved watching the Cleveland Indians, and her favorite player was Omar Vizquel. Her real passion was spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by children, Stephanie (Ronald) Knight II of Shelby, Jack (Kelly) Carney of Attica, Jonathan Carney of Willard, and Jason Carney of Greenwich; grandchildren, Derek Knight and Katelyn (Michael) Garza of Shelby, Kyle (Taylor) Carney of Tiffin, Jacob (Nicole) Carney of Greenwich, Madison Carney of Greenwich and Ashton Carney of Greenwich; great-grandchildren, Tegan Carney of Tiffin, Bentlee Garza of Shelby, Jensen Carney of Greenwich, Colt Carney of Greenwich and Caisen Garza of Shelby; a sister-in-law, Diane (Frank) Anderson; a brother-in-law, Joe (Alma) Carney; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Jack E. Carney Sr.; sisters, Ruth (Thomas) Baker and Robert (Janice) Remmy; sisters-in-law, Suzanne (Bill) Krabill, Carolyn (Joel) Van Loo, and Geraldine (Paul) Weiss; and parents-in-law, Joseph and Mary (Androsac) Carney.
Her family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Billy Back, Julie Secor, Sr. Diane Hay, Willard Fire and Rescue, Mercy Hospital Staff, Heartland Hospice Staff, Carol Shepherd and Sharon Lee.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Secor Funeral Home in Willard. Her service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 16, 2025, at the funeral, with Pastor Greg Griffith officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven.

Betty was a very fun and happy cousin. Always laughing and joking around. I was lucky enuf to be selected to be a flower girl at jack and Betty's wedding. I cherished the dress and crown I proudly wore for the event. Thank you cousin betty.RIP
