Barbara Wechter, 97, of Norwalk, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Norwalk Memorial Home.

She was born December 31, 1927, in Sandusky to the late Paul and Gladys (Shepard) Hepp. She attended Holy Angels Elementary and graduated from Norwalk High School in 1946. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and raised her four children. She worked in the cafeteria at St. Paul School and retired in the 1980s from Norwalk City Schools food service. She enjoyed cruises, traveling over the years with her husband, Frank, and spent many winters in Arizona, and especially enjoyed their trips to Mexico. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attending their events.

She is survived by her children, Thomas (Rita) Wechter of Norwalk, Nancy Dilger of Norwalk, Jerry Wechter of Chicago and Sandy (Mike) Jones of Norwalk; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; her sister, Mary Jo Hepp; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Frank V. Wechter, in 2020; siblings, Paul Hepp, John Hepp, and Judy Rarick; and son-in-law, Bob Dilger.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk, with the Rev. Anthony Recker officiating. Private burial will be at St. Paul Cemetery.
