Algonquin, ILAnthony "Tony" J. Celske, age 89, of
Algonquin, IL, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025. Born on November 2, 1936 in
Conrath, WI to Albert and Jessie (née Borkowski) Celske, Tony had 11 siblings (4 brothers and 7 sisters) and lived a life marked by dedication, hard work, and deep-rooted family values. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, embodying the same loyalty and commitment that would define every chapter of his life.
Tony was known throughout the Midwest as a master mason-revered for his craftsmanship and respected by peers and clients alike, but he was more than just a tradesman, he was a true artist. His work left a lasting mark on countless homes and buildings in the area, each one a testament to his skill and pride in his trade. Colleagues often referred to him as the best mason in the region-a title he earned through decades of tireless effort and unwavering standards.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Tony was a man of simple joys and steadfast passions. He found peace in nature through hunting and fishing, pursuits that connected him to the land he loved. Around the card table, he shared laughter and camaraderie with friends and family alike. As a longtime resident of Fox River Grove, he was a proud and devoted member of the Lion's Club as well as several local Veteran's organizations. And when it came to football season, there was no more devoted fan than Tony-his loyalty to the Green Bay Packers ran deep.
Tony's greatest pride was his family. He is lovingly remembered by his children: Daniel (Cory) Celske, Thomas Celske, and Elizabeth (Jim) Sitta; as well as his grandchildren: Ellen Celske, Quinn Celske, Sam Celske, Jack Sitta, Ben Sitta, and Jenna Sitta. Their lives are enriched by his example of integrity and perseverance.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Diane Celske. Together they built a life grounded in love and mutual respect-a foundation that continues to support their family today.
Tony's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him-family members who cherished him, friends who admired him, neighbors who relied on him. His legacy lives on not only in brick and mortar but also in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have shared in his journey.
