Jim was a wonderful friend to all of us on the Boston waterfront. He was often seen walking on Commercial St with Caitlin, holding hands. He adored his daughter, son in law and his grandchildren more than anything in the world. You were a good man, Jim, and we will all miss you. Kathy Magliocca

RIP Jim. A great sense of humor, a kind heart and a mischievous nature - one of the good guys. I hope you are sitting on a cloud, savoring a non gluten-free cookie and enjoying all the (much deserved) fuss for a life well lived.
Thank you for your service and friendship.

He was so brave, didn't let the outcome sway him. He was a comrade to John, who also served in Vietnam. May he RIP. Love you Jim

Loretta McGovern, Jim's former wife and my best friend since freshman year in high school, introduced us before they married and I was smitten with his big presence, charm and wonderful sense of humor from the get-go! Whenever my husband and I would visit Boston from Los Angeles where we had moved, we would get together, have dinner and enjoy each other's company. There was always much laughter and teasing and we all walked away feeling better having spent that special time catching up with Jim and Loretta. We remained friends for many years even after their divorce, although I didn't see him very often except at Caitlin and Kyle's beautiful wedding. Jim was a fighter and loved life and his family, especially the gift of the grandchildren. I am so happy he was able to experience that relationship and died knowing how much he was loved by all.
