Ambrose O'Brien, 85, of Norwalk, passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at Gaymont Nursing Center. Ambrose was born July 29, 1939, to the late Ambrose F. O'Brien Sr. and Ida J. (Hull) O'Brien.

Ambrose was a lifelong resident of Norwalk and started as a farmer before working for Norwalk Furniture until his retirement in 1995. He married the love of his life, Caroline A. Nickoli May 4, 1963, at St. Paul Catholic Church. Ambrose had a servant's heart and always lent out a helping hand to those who asked him for help. Ambrose proudly served his country in the National Guard. He also served on A.D.A.M.S Board and St. Paul Parish Council. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and was very involved with Boys Scouts of America. In 2017, Ambrose was awarded Huron County Outstanding Senior Citizen Award.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Caroline O'Brien; his children, Michael and David O'Brien; his sisters, Patricia Harris and Lola Dusea; grandsons, Nathaniel, Quentin and Jacob; sister in-law, Ann (Tom) Kocher; and nieces and nephew, Sherry Wiseman, Sandy Kocher, and Danny Kocher.

He was preceded in passing by his parents, Ambrose F. O'Brien Sr. and Ida J. O'Brien; his sister, Carol Ringlein; and his grandson, Michael P. O'Brien Jr.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk. Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 17, 2025, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 East Main St., Norwalk. Burial will follow at conclusion of Mass at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Wakeman.

Memorial contribu-tions made in Ambrose's name can be made to St. Paul Catholic Church.

What a fine friend who fought a courageous fight. We had so many, but not enough, monthly meals with Caroline and Ambrose that were the high-light of the month. He was also good at keeping us informed by email. We will continue to keep his family in our prayers.
