Amanda Quinlan Obituary

Amanda Quinlan

Jun 21, 1976 - Jun 7, 2024

Amherst

Amanda J. Quinlan, 47, resident of Amherst, New Hampshire, died Friday, June 7, 2024, at her home after a hard-fought battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family.

She was born June 21, 1976, in Norwalk, the daughter of John R. and Susan E. (Eggleston) Tyler.

Amanda was raised and educated in Ohio and graduated from St. Paul High School in 1994. Following high school, Amanda attended English Nanny School. As a professional nanny, Amanda loved and devoted her time in caring for 'her' children. She remained friends with many of these children as they became adults. She made her way east and landed in Watertown, Massachusetts, where she met Robert Quinlan. The two would marry and later move to Amherst where they have been for 11 years.

Amanda was an avid traveler who took trips to Paris, Rome, Monaco, and Greece. She also enjoyed going to Broadway shows like Miss Saigon, Little Shop of Horrors, and Les Misérables in New York. She was also a big fan of Boston Red Sox and Cleveland Browns.

Amanda's survivors include her loving husband, Robert Quinlan of Amherst, New Hampshire; their two children, Elsie and George Quinlan, both of Amherst, New Hampshire; parents, John and Susan of Norwalk; and two sisters, Brooke (James) Gfell of Norwalk and Erin Tyler (Hoyt Cruse) of Alexandria, Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Sean Tyler; and grandparents, Robert and Margaret (Heitz) Tyler and Robert and Mary Ellen (Quilter) Eggleston.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no visitation. Mass of Christian burial was 10 a.m. Thursday, June 13, 2024, at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 62 Manchester Street, Nashua, New Hampshire. Burial followed at Edgewood Cemetery, Nashua, New Hampshire.

Arrangements are in the care of Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, New Hampshire, 03055.

Amanda was always encouraging her children to say hello and drop by cards or flowers in our mailbox. They were neighbors who loved their family deeply.
She hosted an ice cream party when our grandchildren moved to their home after living on Fernwood for several months. The backyard was so much fun with children's laughter and mischief. Simonne & Kevin Perry
