Bobby Joe Myers, 89, of Winters, Texas, passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.

Bobby was born on July 9, 1936, at Nan Travis Hospital in Jacksonville, Texas, to Henry Clay Myers and Mary Veatrice Cargill. He graduated from Sabine High School in 1954 and attended Kilgore College and Lamar Technical University before being drafted into the United States Army in September 1959.

Bobby proudly served in Korea with the First Cavalry Division Artillery, where he was promoted to Specialist Four and served as Message Center Chief in the Artillery Headquarters Battery. He was also in charge of the Cryptograph Center which received secret coded messages, decoded them and delivered them to the officers. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Lamar Technical University and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering in January 1963.

He began his professional career with Allen-Bradley Electronics in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as a sales representative. In July 1964, he was transferred to Denver, Colorado, where he served as District Sales Manager for the Colorado and Wyoming territory. In recognition of his leadership and community involvement, Bobby was selected for the 1966–1967 edition of Who’s Who in Colorado, honoring outstanding civic, business, professional, and government leaders.

In 1968, Bobby was transferred to Houston to oversee Allen-Bradley’s service to the petrochemical industry. Two years later, he was moved to San Antonio as Branch Manager, responsible for a territory stretching from Temple south to the Gulf Coast, the Rio Grande, and west to El Paso.

In 1972, Bobby fulfilled a lifelong dream by purchasing his first ranch near Cotulla, Texas. He registered his brand and proudly named each of his ranches Cross M. In 1977, he left Allen-Bradley and founded Myers and Associates, representing thirteen electrical manufacturers, including Sylvania’s electrical equipment division. After Sylvania sold its business, Bobby began working with Nunn Electric.

While working for Nunn Electric, Bobby entered the cable television industry, building and operating cable systems beginning in 1979. He developed systems in Big Wells, La Pryor, Batesville, Tilden, Flatonia, and Nixon. He operated these systems until 1989, when he sold them and expanded his ranching operations near Cotulla.

On June 3, 1986, Bobby married the love of his life, Joyce Ann Mueller. They lived in a small cabin on their Cotulla ranch for a year and a half before selling it and purchasing a ranch in Colorado in 1990. There, they laid water lines, developed an extensive water system with twenty drinking tanks, and endured several harsh winters together.

Desiring warmer weather, Bobby and Joyce returned to Texas in 1995, purchasing a ranch in Omaha, East Texas. In 1997, they moved to Paint Rock, Texas, and in 1999 settled on their ranch outside Winters, Texas, which became their longtime home. Through their dedication to land stewardship, grass restoration, and cross-fencing, Bobby and Joyce were honored as Conservationists of the Year for their region in 2004.

Bobby spent his life ranching cattle, working hard with a quiet but unwavering work ethic that defined who he was. Long days and physical labor never deterred him. Hard work was simply a way of life. He always loved riding horses and moving cattle horseback, feeling most at home in the saddle. As he grew older, riding became what he loved most. It was all he wanted to do and the only thing that brought him true relief from pain. He never turned down the opportunity to ride.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Clay Myers and Mary Veatrice Cargill Myers. He was preceded in death by his sister, Nelda Ruth Smith, and brothers’-in-law, Bobby (Red) Smith and Dan DeKeyser.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Myers; his son, Michael Clay Myers; his daughter, Sherry Lynn Myers; her children, his grandson Jared Michael LaSalle and wife Ashley, and their children Noah Miles, Ruby Rene, Emma Sue, and Annabelle Kaye; his granddaughter Juliet Davis and husband William, and their children Jaxen Ray and Josephine Mae; his grandson Jace and wife Destanee Thomae, and their children Caroline Olivia and Sonny Clay; and his son Reed Killion and wife Catherine, and their children Carson Marshall, Cassidy Nicole, and Autumn Olivia.

A Rosary will be held on Monday, February 2, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Ballinger, Texas. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m., celebrated by Father Tom Barley. Interment will take place at the family’s private ranch in Winters, Texas.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Ballinger Memorial Hospital Rehab and its entire staff for the compassionate and loving care shown to Bobby.
